How To Help Avoid Cross Contamination
Cross contamination is when safe foods comes in contact with a food allergen such as peanuts or tree nuts. Keep in mind for those with severe food allergies, eating even a slight trace amount of the allergic food can cause a reaction.Our cookie dough is made in a peanut and tree nut free environment. However, once the package is opened in your kitchen we have no control over it’s nut free status. There are a few things you can do to help to reduce the possibility of cross contamination of our products.
- Prior to opening our product make sure the work surfaces and utensils around you are cleaned with hot soapy water or a cleaning agent. Knives, cutting boards, counter tops, baking trays should all be thoroughly cleaned.
- Avoid wooden cutting boards, they are tough to get clean. Use plastic or stainless steel surfaces.
- Hands and faces are potential source for cross contamination. Make sure your hands are cleaned with soapy water and a fresh pair of gloves.
- Use a clean piece of parchment paper for your baking tray.
- Place individual baked cookies in a bag or sleeve on your display tray. Make sure to place the tray away from other food to avoid cross contamination.
- If possible use a dome cover or covered serving area.
